Private Insurance: is insurance provided through either a for-profit or not-for-profit company rather than by the federal or state government.
Public Option: is the term being used for a proposed government choice for health care insurance. This would be a way for uninsured Americans to obtain insurance since it would be available to all Americans at an affordable cost and would not exclude individuals for pre-existing conditions.
Medicaid: federal program that pays for health care for those who can't afford it.
